We’ve Left – the House Anyway

1–2 minutes

All Packed Up

All Packed Up

We’ve left the house – finally. The car is stuffed. We were earlier abandoning loaves of bread for lack of space. There were some last-minute negotiations over how much underwear was really necessary (2 vs 10) and we settled on 10. We’re clearly not going to make Ai-Ais in Namibia tonight (it’s 11:30am and we’re waiting for Fiona to get some last-minute shopping in – sigh) so we’re going to have to make the first of many adjustments to our plans.
Sad to leave our dogs. Sad to say goodbye to our lovely house. Sad to leave Cape Town. Had a great send-off from our neighbours and lots of texts and emails wishing us well – thanks. We’re totally thrilled (and a bit apprehensive – but of the cautious kind) about the adventure ahead. The boys are packed in like sardines, albeit with iPods, DVDs and about a 1/2 ton of chips and soft drinks – bliss. Fiona’s pulled an all-nighter packing and flapping, and is having trouble with complete sentence formation. I’m well-rested for a lot of long drives.
Ciao beautiful Cape Town and thanks for the most amazing 11 years. Back soon(ish).
