The Boys Blog

2–3 minutes

Ben:

This is madness my parents are running about packing tents, food, water and toys. I like the toys and the food but why bring water when you can bring chocolate milk? I’m wondering if we are going to have enough food for the trip. I don’t really care if we have enough as long as its KFC and McDonalds. My Dad says it’s most unlikely but still possible.

I’m looking forward to seeing elephants but a bit afraid of malaria and mosquitoes. So that’s why I’m going to take malaria tablets every day. ‘They taste terrible but they’re okay because they’ll save me from malaria and they’re terrible because they taste like soil. It’s disgusting but healthy. Sometimes I wonder if they are made of soil because they definitely taste it. It’s going to be a fun Christmas because we are not having it at home. I’m looking forward to waking up on Christmas Day and hearing the elephants and lions. But the bad thing is I won’t have as many presents because we won’t be able to fit them in the car according to Dad. The good thing is we’re having more presents when we come back.

Hugo:

I’m excited to go on the trip but the mosquitoes give me the creeps. I have seen lots of elephants before but this time there are going to be even more than I thought. There will be so many elephants that I won’t be able to count them. I’m excited about hearing the lions roaring in the night. It will also be cool to see giraffes. And I’m looking forward to having Christmas in Etosha. It will also be cool to see some hippos. I hope I will see lots of animals because I have a bird book and I can mark them down in my book. Some day I might see some eagles. It will also be exciting to see some animals mating (sic). The house is now madness but it’s okay. I think Canada is going to be fun. I’m really excited to see some cheetahs. If I do I will shout “oh my word, a cheetah!” and then I’ll get on my parents’ nerves. It will be madness. It will be a little bit creepy if some hyenas come outside our tent. I hate their laugh. It makes me scared. It will be a little bit scary to see one because it might come and attack me so I must watch out for them.

Oliver:

I think it’s going to be exciting and sometimes hyenas give me the creeps and it might be a tiny, whincey bit scary. And sometimes I think the lions will attack me. And I think that hyenas will sometimes try to get in the tent. And sometimes with Ben and Hugo in the mornings we’re going to have fun with water pistols and play rugby and play soccer and everything else and my brothers might squirt me. I know it’s going to be fun and my brothers might do something annoying and something tells me they might come sneaking up on me.
